Young people face many challenges. Making healthy friendships and thinking about the future can be challenging enough without adding drugs or alcohol consumption. Teens are aware of the reality of alcohol abuse. Did you know that 23% of 8th graders and 42% 10th graders have tried alcohol at the very least once? Your performance at school, in relationships, and in your future can be affected by drinking alcohol. If you follow the guidelines below, you can decrease the chance of a drug and alcohol addiction. To stay away from pressure from peers, build healthy friendships.Take note of who you associate with. Positive friendships can be an influence that is positive, whereas unhealthy relationships can be a source of negative peer pressure. You might consider if your friends are healthy if you find that some of your peers are engaging in unhealthy actions, like drinking or drug use. A good friend will never pressure you into making decisions that may negatively affect your future. Keep a positive connection with your parents or a teacher. Mentors, such as teachers, counselors or coaches can be excellent sources to assist you in navigating the most difficult situations that you face in life. They've been there before and are aware of the impact that teen substance abuse can affect your life. Participate in extracurricular and hobbies you love. Involving yourself in interests and activities that you like will help you get connected with others who are young and can connect with. It is also a good idea to consider volunteering during the weekend and getting involved with your local community. Hobbies can be a healthier alternative to teen drug abuse. Having a variety of extracurricular pursuits on your transcript will increase your chances of being accepted into college, and giving back can be a personally rewarding experience in a way that alcohol or drugs cannot. Before you meet up with your group, create an agenda. While you may be dedicated to staying clean but you might have friends that participate in drug and drinking. The importance of having a plan before going out cannot be overemphasized. You should choose a driver who is sober and have a list of people that you can call anytime to take you home if you are unable to find someone sober to bring you back home. Be honest with your parents regarding where you're at so that they can reach you in the event of an emergency. Never drive under the influence of drugs or Alcohol. Do not travel with someone who is under the influence behind the wheel even if they're a friend you can trust. Your child will stop using alcohol and drugs once they are teen. Be vocal about your opinion and getting help. You'll feel comfortable that you've made the right choice to stay sober. It's normal to feel self-conscious regarding what your acquaintances (or people you don't know) might consider. Although it may seem like everyone's doing it, the reality is, not all of them are. Keep in mind that healthy relationships are a positive influence. Let someone you know who suffers from addiction issues or alcohol abuse understand that it's okay to seek help. They shouldn't bear the burden of dealing with this issue on their own.
